Get Literate, Get Educated

Akinteye Mukhtar Omotunde (D'Pioneer)

We have been programmed to think that formal education is a ticket to financial opulence.
University education as a case study is good and a good stepping stone but here in our part of the world, how many graduates graduate yearly and how many are gainfully employed. Let's leave gainfully. how many are employed. even the market seems to be closing for the first class graduate. isn't that pathetic?
So my brothers and sisters it's about time we see tertiary education as an opportunity to build personal skills. an avenue to meet people from different fields and observe the diversity in their thought patterns. little wonder why graduates of this day are literate, yet uneducated.

Someone once said to me. In a university, first degree teaches you to think straight,
Masters teaches you to know more about one thing,
Doctorate teaches you to know little about more while
Professorial degree teaches you to know more about much more.
So it's about time we drop the idea of university as a means to financial stability, let's see it as a platform for personal development.
