DEATH: A USEFUL INTELLECTUAL CONCEPT

Akinteye Mukhtar Omotunde (D'Pioneer)

Death: The cessation of life and all associated processes.

Death, a concept which many of us do not like to talk about, only a few contemplates it, and fewer prepares for it, yet it is certain that sooner or later, it will come to You and I, for Our Lord, The Most High says "Every Soul shall taste death".

Oftentimes, we view death as being just a spiritual (religious) matter, yet just like many other religious matter, Death has it's usefulness, which could be intellectually drawn upon to perhaps live a better life and when the time comes, die a better death.

Indeed Every soul shall die, but no one wishes to die, not You, not I, not even those who love to enter paradise, we all wish to live longer, better and bigger. Yet, Death is and will forever be the only passageway to the destination of the hereafter.

For the living, You and I, until death comes to us, It remains a purely intellectual concept because no one can give us an experienced tale of it's intricacies, those who have died can't return to give the tale, and we who are alive can't give details of what we've never experienced.

Death is certain, and with this knowledge comes the realization that our time on earth is limited, brethren, would you rather waste that limited time on frivolities?
No, Don't!.
Don't live someone else's life.
Don't let the noise of others drown out your own inner voice, rather find the courage to follow your heart after due consultation(s) and divine exhortations.

Death is certain. Do we not see it happening to people around us? Yet it is amazing that we act like it won't happen to us, we bury our family and friends, but we keep living life like we'll live forever.
In a way we recognize death and even plan for its eventuality: Individuals take on life insurance policies, communities, companies, and governments prepare contingency plans in the case of sudden death of their leaders, despite all these, we fail to prepare for death by doing good in life, and forsaking evil. We do not reform our bad ways and fail to engage, advice and enjoin people on what is right.

Though, we know that death is certain, we procrastinate, and keep delaying to act as planned. If you don't start acting today, who promised you tomorrow?
Brother, that plan you've been pending, don't sleep on it, act on it and act on it now.

Suppose you were informed that today would be your last day here on earth, and that tomorrow you would be overcome by death, how would you spend your today?
The answer to this invaluable question should be our guiding principle by which we live each day. Know that even though death is certain, it gives no notice of its coming.
Enjoy life as much as you can, but remember tomorrow is just another day.
